and Postdoctoral positions
in the
European Research
Training
Network "Homogenization and Multiple Scales"
(HMS2000) RTN1-1999-00040

As part of the current "
Human
Potential" programme, Research Training Networks (RTN) activity of
the European Union, the European Commission will provide four years of
funding starting in the Spring of 2000 for a collaborative research and
training network dedicated to
the Mathematical study of multiple scale phenomena.
The main fields of applied
mathematics
and Modelling which are concerned are:
- quasiconvexity,
- homogenization of
partial
differential
equations and
- relaxation techniques
for
optimal
design
- associated numerical
computations
- as well as all their
applications.
The Network will link as members the
following European institutions:
- Laboratoire d'Analyse
Numérique (CNRS- UMR 7598) as coordinator,
- University of Heidelberg (Germany),
- Technical University of Denmark
(Lyngby, Denmark),
- Universidad Complutense of Madrid
(Spain),
- Università degli Studi
di Pisa (Italy)
- Institutul de Matematica al Academiei Romane (Bucarest, Romania) .
- Eidgenoessische Technische Hochschule Zurich (Swiss Federal
Institute
of Technology Zurich, Switzerland, starting in 2002).
Each member institution will serve
as coordinator for its own country.
