Brief description of the UNIKATH Database

Fully developed turbulent flows and related phenomena

     * A new semi-deterministic turbulence model, called coherent vortex simulation, based on the wavelet filtered Navier-Stokes equations in 2 and 3 dimensions,
    presented by Guilio Pellegrino:
Presentation in pdf format: Part 1. Part 2.

    * Coupling of this model with an adaptive wavelet solver for computing different turbulent flows: mixing layers, homogeneous decaying flows, statistically stationary flows.

    * Application of wavelet methods for analysis and modeling of the mixing and combustion problems in chemical engineering, the stability limits of flame balls under microgravity conditions, their pattern formation and influence of radiative losses or the mixing of passive and reactive scalars in turbulent flows dominated by coherent structures.

      Systems of conservation laws

    * Implementation and application of adaptive methods for 2-dimensional compressible Euler equations. Application to explore different phenomena such as Kelvin-Helmholtz instabilities, associated with contact discontinuities.
