Nicole Spillane

I have been a PhD student at Laboratoire Jacques Louis Lions in Paris since september 2010. My advisors are Frédéric Nataf (LJLL) and Patrice Hauret (Michelin). The topic of my research is domain decomposition for three dimensional elasticity. My first objective has been to build a coarse grid which can deal with high heterogeneities in the coefficients in the equations. This is a problem which arises when running simulations on objects made of rubber and steel. The purpose of my work is, throughout the next few years, to factor in some more difficulties which are encountered by Michelin all the while aiming for robustness and efficiency.
